Nembustu Chanters

This is our chanting and singing group. If you enjoy making music with your voice this is the place for you.

We are getting ready of our Artown offering.  It will be on July 11th and 25th at 5:00pm in our main hall. We will chant and sing from various Buddhist Traditions. Japanese Buddhism, Tibetan and American Buddhism will be featured for your spiritual and cultural enjoyment. Please come and experience a calm, joyful transformation during this special evening of chanting.

Chanting is like charging a battery, so the more highly charged it is, the more energy we expend. Remember that chanting is an ancient and popular Buddhist practice. It fills us with oxygen, hope, strength and energy so that we can take the right action to resolve our problems. We sometimes dedicate our chats to people who need help or support. While we don't consider our chanting a prayer - it is a dynamic and energetic process. The deep meaning and significance of the text is not initially important. Over time we come to learn the meaning and import of the Shin Buddhist chants we practice.

There is a strong element of mindfulness practice in our chanting. For those who find the stillness of silent meditation disturbing, chanting is a better option.  We work toward a time when the "chant chants you" and duality fades away.
