Dharma Book Group meets in the Fire Side Room at 6:30pm - 8:00pm on the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of the month. The book group reads and discusses the book on an ongoing basis. Everyone is welcome. For beginning and long-time Buddhists alike. Please enter RBC from the Office Entrance off of Plumas St.
RBC Golden Light Meditation - Every 2nd & 4th Wednesday - 6:30pm - 8:00pm in Hiroma Hall.
This is the sitting meditation group of the Reno Buddhist Center. Our name comes from the Larger Sutra on the Sukhavati - where the golden light of wisdom casts no shadow.
We present traditional meditation techniques of sitting and walking meditation with clear intention. Please understand that in our Shin Buddhist tradition we teach and practice meditation as a healthful centering activity. We consider it spiritually neutral and not a process of “perfecting the individual”. You are already ok, just as you are.
All levels of experience are welcome and those new to meditation can receive extra instruction. Please enter the meditation space quietly to help create a peaceful environment. We enter from Taylor Street door. A normal session consists of an invocation, a 20 minute Mindfulness sitting, followed by a shorter walking meditation and then a second sitting - tea and question time will follow. Dana is encouraged as is customary at any meditation hall.
Newcomers Circle - Every Service Sunday just after the service
Please come to the service and immediately following in the library [downstairs] we offer a brief presentation and discussion Q&A on Buddhism. New friends and visitors are encouraged to attend as often as you like.
